Music Works! Everyday - All School

Sponsored by the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, MusicWorks! Everyday listening program encourages each child to engage with music in a way that is very personal and helps all children broaden their appreciation for great music and improve their listening skills. Goals Aligned With the Massachusetts and National Standards for Arts Education Music Memory is designed to help children:

• Listen and respond actively to music
• Acquire knowledge of music terms and definitions
• Learn about composers, the periods they live in and the cultural significance of their music
• Make connections from the music to other disciplines
• Enjoy a meaningful cultural experience with their peers

The acquisition of focused listening skills in the course of exposure to a carefully selected, varied repertoire is key to the learning process.

How it works Mr. Depin plays a selection of classical music over the intercom at the beginning of each school day. By listening to the same composition over the course of a week, listeners become knowledgeable about the featured music and the composer, as well as improving their ability to focus and be more productive in all their subjects.  It directly supports the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework.
