Notes on the Staff
The musical alphabet uses the letters A B C D E F G .
After G you start over again at A.
Notes on the staff are on a line or in a space.
Learning the line notes:
Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge
Learning the spaces notes
F A C E
The higher the note is on the staff the higher it sounds.
The lower the note is on the staff the lower it sounds.
Most instruments can play more than the 9 notes on the lines and spaces.
When the pitches are higher than the top line F and lower than the bottom line E, musicians use short lines called ledger lines. We write the note heads on, below or above the ledger line to indicate line and space notes and the absolute pitch. We still use the musical alphabet A B C D E F G to determine the absolute pitch names.
